Job Function/Requirements: 
  • Assist Maintenance department to complete maintenance projects as well as conduct equipment and property maintenance
Essential Job Duties: 
  • Perform basic office assistant duties
  • Operate maintenance work order system
  • Perform preventive maintenance work orders
  • Caretaker of shop duties
  • Perform light duty maintenance on equipment
Nature and Scope: 
  • The incumbent reports to the Maintenance Supervisor or the Manager of Maintenance
  • Ensures facilities and equipment is properly maintained to meet or exceed all regulatory requirements
  • Works in a safe and productive manner with the guidelines established by policy and delegated authority
  • Accountable for complying with the Boehringer-Ingelheim/Newport Business Code of Ethics to the highest standards
  • Accountable for complying with the Company Handbook, all policies set by the Company and governmental regulations
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and requires a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must possess basic equipment/maintenance skills
  • Must have basic math skills and good computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
  • Must be able to work in different work environments such as coolers, incubators and animal rooms
  • Must be able to work on ladders, not afraid of heights
  • Must be able to handle various types of chemicals, sprays, bottled gases, natural gas and must pads medical clearance/fit testing, when required
  • Must be familiar with running small equipment to include mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, sprayers, snowblades, forklifts, boom lifts, snow blowers, skid loaders, pressure washers, and tractors
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., able to bend, twist and perform fine motor manipulations
  • Must be able to work some after hours and some weekend hours
  • Other duties as assigned
